The 11th Kalyani Book Fair, 2007 was inaugurated by the eminent writer Shri Sunil Gangopadhyay on the 7th day of Decamber, 2007 in presence of Dr. Shantanu Jha (Chairman, Kalyanai Municipality), the President of Kalyani Book Fair-2007. Eminent personalities like Dr. Ranajit Shamanta, Vice Chancellor, Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya; Tridib Chattopadhyay; Nikhil kar; Alokesh Das, M.P.; Bankim Ghosh, Hon'ble Minister, Govt. of West Bengal; Maloy Shamanta, M.L.A.; Chitra Lahiri; Ajay Basu; Preety Sengupata; Sumit De; Partha Bhattacharjya; Mani Mala Kar; Suchitra Kar; Ajay Chakraborty; Rabindranath Roy; Shomesh Kangsha Banik; Debabrata Bhattacharjee; Amiya Mudi; Gopal Chakraborty were also present in the inaugural ceremony.

Shri Sunil Gangopadhyay mentioned in his speech that people started tilting a lot towards reading books now a days and the successful inauguration of the 11 th Kalyani Book Fair,2007 proved that again. And he invited the children and youth generation to read books more and more as this is the high time to start taking the taste of literature in life.
